About the event
This course introduces students to knowledge and skills to function in the capacity of a responder arriving at the scene of a medical emergency and providing care until advanced EMS help arrives. Classroom and laboratory instruction includes assessment of the patient, airway management, CPR, automated external defibrillator, hemorrhage control, bandaging, splinting, and childbirth.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student is eligible to become a certified Louisiana Emergency Medical Responder. The student will also be certified in CPR by the American Heart Association.
